The WICKED plans

Last night, I took mom and a friend of ours on an early Christmas present to see Wicked. OH IT WAS SO GOOD! The costumes, lighting and special effects were awesome! The singing, believe it or not, was a little rough in the beginning, but then it evened out and became wonderful.
The three of us beforehand has reservations at this nice 3 star restaurant (so close! I've been to a 3 star, just one more star!!!). I love Sally. She is just the funnest lady to take out on a night on the town. The three of us are cracking up from times past and adventures we've all had. Plus we were evil ladies and poked fun at some people - the transvestite who was PROUD of her new boobs and proved it by wearing an unzipped jacket... and nothing else underneath. The crazy's in the street and how they reminded us of some older versions of our students. The totally cliche theater usher with a snooty British accent. It was fun!
I think I am a true techie. I found myself watching the show for the special effects more than the music/acting. Whenever there was a flying scene it was like, "ooo! Where are the wires?" or something like that (it's sad, I know). But I enjoyed the show too.
Now how it came about was about a month ago, I teamed up with my mom's boss to make sure she kept that night free by making up an elder's meeting. And he kept it going really well too. So on the night of the show, I run into her office and tell her that she needs to open her xmas present right now. She sees the tickets and asks what night its for. "Tonight." She totally falls for it. She looks at Larry (her boss) and says she can't make the meeting tonight. That's when we inform her about the prank, Sally is waiting for us at our house, and we leave in about a half hour, go get dressed. Oh! That was fun!

Yes, I has the Plague!

Well, not THE plague, nor even the H1N1, but I have a nasty cold and according to a random Kaiser doctor, an ear infection starting up. Random Doc (The first one open at a time I could swing) hit me so hard and fast with the antibiotics answer once she came in the door I was a little dubious that I really needed them. But I guess I do? I have been having that juicy breathing thing when I cough and yeah, ok, NOW my ear starts to actually hurt. But she said the one that feels plugged up looks fine???? Whatever, I'll take them as directed, but I don't want to be contributing to the antibiotic-resistant diseases by taking them when I don't really need them, you know? In the meantime, I'll be coughing myself into a stroke if I don't take some cough suppressant, even if it makes me feel a little weird. er.

Spread the Contagion vs. YUMMY HEALING PHO???

So do I go to the Pho restaurant and risk spreading my contagion there in return for a bowl of therapeutic and delicious beef noodle soup, or do I stay sequestered until tomorrow and make my own soup tonight, though I be tired of my own cooking after three days of this cold?

Poll #1499049 Pho or Staying Sick at home?
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 10

I am sick, and also sick and tired of my own cooking. I also want Pho, but don;t like the whole spreading-the-contagion thing. So do I:

Make another rice-and-broth-concoction like you have for the last three days. Ugh.

Order take-out Pho, increase the environmentally-unfriendly use of styrofoam by one meal, but minimize the toxic spread of the insidious rhinovirus

I Got a Cold But the Kitty Got a Prezzie

Pippa got a Christmas gift early--mostly because she shredded it under the tree on her own initiative. She loved the little mice (a blue on it to the right) but like all kids--furry and otherwise--the best part is the crinkly, rustly wrapping paper!

Potentially looking a gift horse in the mouth

This morning, I went into the office and asked for help. This task of inputting 6 weeks of work in a day & a half by noon today is impossible. Plus there are children in here that are so bad that I am to the point of where either they need to go or I will.
They have complied.
They told me to throw out all work that does not pertain to the time I was here. Grade/input everything else. The annoying children have been put on report. And the interesting thing was...
I told these offending children that for their own benefit, it would be a good thing for me to think that they didn't exist today. That meant that I did not want to hear their voice, I did not want to see them leave their chair for ANY reason. If they had a question about the work I would be more than happy to answer it for them but other then that, keep quiet.
And darn it all if it didn't work.
This day is a lot better than yesterday. Yesterday I was done with teaching. I still am, but I feel that I can finish this assignment at least.
It's not fair though, really, when they listen to the janitor and behave better for him than they do for me.

you have GOT to be kidding me!

So this job has a little more than I expected. Progress reports were due for Ms. Williams class about... oh... 6 hours ago. Which would not have been a problem had I known about this and this teacher's grades been up to date. Oh no. I get to grade and input classwork, homework, and quizes for the past month and a half. I get until Friday at noon.
OH Ms. Williams owes me BIG!
I am SO not happy right now. AND! And!! I've been volunteered to stay and help for the band recital tonight. I BETTER be getting some extra money or something cause I a PISSED that I have to do teacher's job that was supposed to be done in the first place, but it's not.
Oh! And I have to create 2 classes gradebooks because her's was on a trial program and I can't access them now.
Plus the kids are STILL being little shits...
They owe me SO big.

and the results are...

I'm at Edendale until AT LEAST Christmas Break. They want me here until the teacher is 100% ready to return. That could be until next year. Holy Crap.
I beat the news into the kiddies heads that I'm not leaving. I've kicked out kids for more back-talk/ attitude/ mocking me.
2 more weeks, just 2 more weeks...
Is it a bad thing that I'm counting down the weeks & I just started the job?
Eh, it's alright. I'll be ok.

Alright! It's official. Merry Friggen Christmas :)

Ok. I put up the decorations, had some egg nog, listened to Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas CD... I'm in the holiday spirit. I can accept the fact that from now until the day after Christmas, everywhere I go I will not escape the confines of holiday songs. I can accept the fact that I'm going shopping and doing a butt load of cooking and wrapping. I can accept the fact of my own pathetic attempts to see how many people I can get under the mistletoe at my house - mainly to see the surprised look on their face when they realize just precisely where they are standing.
I really do like this time of year. It's just fun pretending to be pissy about it. But I have to admit, the songs get annoying real fast. Especially when they start in mid November. Come on people! One holiday at a time please! Soon as Black Friday hits, be my guest; make your customers listen to cheesy, simpering Christmas songs until their ears bleed. BUT NOT A SECOND BEFORE! Sheesh. :p
Ok, Bring it on. Merry friggen Christmas.

It's gonna be a long 2 weeks...

I get to EMS and I was told that (hopefully) I'll take over the next 2 weeks for this math class. When I had them last time, they were great! Sweet, funny, and basically good attitudes all around.
What a crock of lies!
These little shits are tyrants! Running their mouths, bad attitude, proclaiming (loudly) that they don't understand after I explain things (because they were talking. And then they expect my help. SHOCKER), and just being all around jackasses.
EMS wants me there and are trying their damnest to get me in there until Christmas break. Currently there is another teacher already there, but not today and probably not Monday either - it's me.
It's going to be a long 2 weeks...

sneaky little devils

Yesterday was a good day. I got to sleep in, work for a special ed class that I always have a good time with (until later on in this post), the BF got a new bike (as in motorcycle), and I spent a lovely evening with him hanging out and the like.
Not so much today.
I got up at 6:45am to be at work with the special ed class that I like at 7:45am only to find out that I really didn't have to be there until 9:15.
Then, I don't know WHAT these children breathed in this morning, but everyone is a total spaz today. The kids are in some sort of MOOD where they either don't listen, get violent (really fun -_-), or they're intentionally misbehaving just to get a rise out of you. The worst thing is is that you can't exactly get mad at them - I mean, come on, they're special ed. But they still should know how to act. You can put them on time out and tell them that thei actions are being reported but other than that... you're kinda just screwed and gotta let em have their way. I can't do anything - I'm a sub. I am not allowed to really restrict these kids lest they are being harmful to themselves or others. Apparently, I am not included in the "others" category. I am not an "other" I am a "staff member." You know, it's funny. School's I mean. You are a "staff member" when it comes to disiplinary actions, homework, or enforcing rules. But! You are "other" when it comes to benefits, cost of living raises, or complaints.
Funny that.
Thankfully, the aides I am with today are totally cool. They know what's going on, and they kept me sane and the children listen to them at least. Me, I could be a side of shit on their shoe for all I matter.
Oie. The day's almost done. Then I work out, then I... go... do something productive. Like hot tubbing. Yeah! Hot tub sounds EXCELLENT right now. *sigh* Anyone care to join me? It's practically a private spa since no one comes out there anymore. It'll be fun! Call me!
